Ntombi Langa-Royds' areas of effectiveness

Ntombi's key competencies in turnaround management and business transformation are restructuring initiatives, relationship building with stakeholders, designing and implementing change sustaining initiatives.

She is a change management specialist and human resources expert.

Ntombi Langa-Royds' background

Having met Corprenewal members at the 2005 annual Wits Business School Conference, where she delivered a presentation on turnaround leadership, Ntombi joined the Turnaround Management Association - Southern Africa in 2005.  Subsequently, on 22 September 2005 she was elected CEO of TMA-SA for 2006.

At the beginning of 2006 she joined Corprenewal as the company's Chair.  Her leadership capabilities and her experience and skills in dealing with the people side of distressed situations represent an excellent fit with Corprenewal.

As owner of Nthake Consulting, Ntombi has been consulting in human resources management since 1999.  Prior to that, she was Chief Executive: Human Resources at the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

Ntombi has a total of 19 years experience in the human resources consulting environment.  She has worked in financial services, manufacturing, electronic and print media industries. 

Her experience has spanned across the private and public sectors as well as NGO/community environments.

The size of the organisations where she has worked range from small medium sized locally based organisations, to large multinational global players.

Prior to consulting, her roles have ranged from that of HR officer to Group HR executive.

Through these experiences she has developed the necessary leadership, strategic and facilitator competencies required in today’s highly innovative business environment. 

The added advantage of these experiences for Ntombi has been the development of "Emotional Intelligence" skills.

She currently publishes articles with the Professional Management Review magazine.  She has also contributed articles on Employment Equity.

Ntombi has participated and presented several papers at seminars and conferences on restructuring initiatives, the retention of staff, the effect of trauma on productivity, survivor syndrome in the face of retrenchments, Affirmative Action and Servant leadership.

For the past four years she presented papers and participated in panel discussions at the annual Wits Business School Turnaround Management Conference. 

Ntombi holds executive directorships in Nthake Consultants CC and TLP Power Technologies, both of which she owns, is Chairperson at Imvemvane Waste Management (Pty) Ltd, is a member of NRGF Power Lines CC and CEO of Turnaround Management Association - Southern Africa .

In addition, Ntombi currently holds non-executive Directorships in the following companies:

  • Faranani Investments (Pty) Limited.
  • Primedia Publishing Limited.
  • Deloitte and Touche Human Capital  Corporation (December 2001).
  • Momentum Life Ltd.(June 2002).
  • Exhibitions  for Africa (March 2003).
  • Greenleaf centre for servant leadership (SA) (March 2002).

Apart from being conversant with all official South African languages, Ntombi also speaks French, Nyanja, Bemba and Silozi.
